SQ1 Wins a 2018 Good Food Award
The word is out! We’ve been named a Winner of the 2018 Good Food Awards in the Coffee category for our Ethiopia Mormora. This is the fourth year that we’ve won a Good Food Award, and this year’s award wining coffee is now available for sale by the 8 ounce bag ($20) at all three of our retail locations and online while supplies last.
“It’s a washed Ethiopian coffee with bergamot aromatics, hints of peach and lemon, and plenty of sweetness.” said Jess Steffy, our Q-grader and co-owner of Square One Coffee. “It’s reminiscent of a London Fog when it’s hot, then those peach and lemon notes come forward as the coffee cools.”
How does a company win a Good Food Award? Product entries from 15 different categories are submitted from companies all over the U.S., and they are scored by judges in a blind tasting. Each of the winners received top scores and rose to the top of the 2,057 entries and then also passed rigorous vetting to confirm that each entry met specific Good Food Awards standards around environmentally sound agriculture practices, transparency, and responsible relationships throughout the supply chain.
“It means a lot to be nationally recognized." said Steffy. “So many hands have to come together from around the world to create a great coffee like this. Truly, this award belongs to hundreds of hardworking people, many of whom are from Ethiopia, a beautiful country with incredible hospitality, full of wonderful humans, and tasty coffee.”
