Our team visited La Providencia in Honduras!
La Providencia is a coffee farm, school, and orphan care community in Honduras. It is operated by Horizon Initiative. A non-profit based out of Lancaster, PA, with a mission to transform the lives of orphaned children.
When you purchase this coffee 100% of the proceeds go back to this farm and community.
During our trip, we met Henry, Marvin, & Kenia, the lead farmers who pour their hearts and souls into their coffee. We learned firsthand about processing & drying the coffee we enjoy so much. Kenia also shared the family secrets she learned from her mother to know when the coffee was “just right”, and ready to be washed. Henry & Marvin did a coffee tasting with us and then showed us around the coffee nursery, talking to us about goals for the land.
Meeting the children who attend La Providencia’s school was a very special moment during our trip. They were preparing for their upcoming holiday parade, which was super fun! These incredibly hard-working families & teachers aim to enroll more children at the school and give them the best education possible, preparing them for college. It is very good work!
